I for one hate all those “accept cookies” and “allow website to track you so we can bring you the best service” or whatever. I’m sorry for the day I have to use cookies to bring fleishmi.com to you. Hopefully it’ll never come to that. If it does, just like it is now, I will never track you nor use this site or other services which I use on this site to give you any kind of “customized or personalized” experience. That’s all fancy speak for “I’m gonna track you and violate your privacy by selling your user data to the highest bidder.”

However, I cannot vouch for vendors or makers of third party applications that my site uses. I can only vow to do my due diligence to make sure I use all open source and secure packages that don’t track you. In cases where I have to use big tech APIs or services, such as Google AdSense (for example, I’m not planning on monetizing through them) keep in mind that they will track you and record your data for sale. The only control I have over that is to not use it so if you see big tech packages here, it’s a last resort.

To that end, I’ll be transparent as to what is being used from big tech, how, and you can judge for yourself if you want to keep visiting my site. In that event, feel free to use ad blockers. You do not need to white list my site to view it or use whatever services I currently or in the future will render. In fact even if I do monetize through ad revenue, there aren’t many if any out there that don’t track you. Thus I highly encourage you to use an ad blocker.

I DO collect personal information that you provide. In order to register for the forums, you will need to provide some personal contact information. You need to be aware of this and agree to let me use it for the express purpose of providing the membership services to the forums.

I am forbidden from using this to personally contact you outside of providing the forum services or troubleshooting any ticketed issues created by you. I am prohibited from selling this information. I am required to use encryption methods to block data from being decoded. I use CloudFlare to reroute my server’s IP and DNS addresses to provide extra security. In the event my server goes down due to data corruption your data will be erased as part of the setup I currently use. Yes you will lose access but your information will be protected by no longer existing.

In the event of a law enforcement action, I may be compelled to cooperate with authorities. Please keep in mind that this is subject to local laws. Thankfully, Japan shares similar laws to that of the United States as all 50 states currently have court enforced compelling of cooperation only. Meaning, no warrant no disclosure. Japan is the same, as my server is hosted in Tokyo Metropolitan jurisdiction of Tokyo Prefecture, Japan. Therefore without this court order or warrant I will NOT give out your personal information or data.

Any user requests for sharing of personal information will be strictly denied even by the user themselves. Even simple inquiries like “which email did I use?” will lead to a denial of information. By default I operate under the zero trust principle. Therefore I will be making sure that the automated mailers are active and maintained. At time of this writing, it’s still janky. If in the near future everything works right you will not need to interact with me in order to get login credentials or register for the forums.

It is my hope that I can create a space where you can enjoy the content while feeling safe and secure. In this day and age it’s paramount that we not only protect ourselves but also each other. As webmasters we have a responsibility for the security of our data and the safety of our users. Without this we shouldn’t host anything if we’re going to be lax about security and data safety.
